Home and School
We welcome the interest and support of parents in all aspects of school life. We aim to keep parents well informed about their children's education so that they see it as a partnership between home and school.
Parents are encouraged to keep in regular contact with their child's class teacher and to 'pop in' for a quick word now and again at the end of school. Teachers will always be pleased to spare a few moments, unless they have other engagements.
Formal consultations with parents are arranged in the autumn term and spring term when children's progress is discussed. In the summer term, all children receive an end of year report from their teacher and produce their own review of the year.
If during the year parents want a longer discussion with their child's teacher, an appointment with the teacher can be made.
It is very important that you keep the school informed of any important changes that may affect your child. Please let us know promptly about any medical, physical or emotional difficulties of which you become aware.
HOME / SCHOOL AGREEMENT
The legal and moral obligation to educate a child is upon the parent. The school is provided to assist the parent in discharging that obligation. Only with the co-operation of parent and teacher can the education of your child be accomplished in full.
All schools are obliged to provide a home/school agreement which commits all partners in a child's education to do their utmost to work together for the ultimate benefit of each pupil.
The Staff and Governors of Allington Primary School aim to meet, maintain and build upon the aims and objectives of the school by:-
being welcoming and open to all children, parents and guardians and offering opportunities to work in partner
ship for the benefit of each child.
providing a stimulating, happy and secure learning enviornment for your child.
providing a balanced and broad curriculum which extends beyond the classroom and is tailored to meet your
child's individual needs.
developing your child's independence and thinking ability
offering a high standard of teaching across the curriculum
aiming to ensure your child's safety and well-being whilst at school
keeping you informed regularly of your child's progress
keeping you informed about the curriculum
contacting you promptly with any concerns we may have
encouraging children to have healthy eating habits and to develop a healthy lifestyle
considering any complaints you may have by following the procedures laid down in the school policy
It is hoped and expected that parents and guardians will wish to help the school to meet the aims and objectives by:-
working together with the school for the benefit of their child
ensuring their child attends school regularly and providing an explanation if their child is absent
ensuring their child attends school on time. School starts at 8.45am.
encouraging their child to work hard at school and with their homework
supporting the school's self esteem/behaviour policy
informing the school promptly of anything which may affect their child's behaviour or performance at school
providing a suitable environment and encouragement at home for their child to do homeowrk
attending consultation evenings and, when possible, curriculum information evenings and other functions at the school
respecting the safety of other children when driving to school and parking well away from the school safetyzone.
Whenever possible walk the children to school
encouraging their child to meet the pupil's commitment
dressing and equipping their child appropriately for their primary school education
assisting their child to maintain their part of the agreement
Equally each pupil is expected to:-
do my best at school
display good manners
show consideration to others
arrive on time
keep to school rules
ask if I don't understand
make decisions for myself
dress appropriately
Signed: ___________________ (Mr M Geadah - Head Teacher)
The Head Teacher's signature indicates the school's commitment to the above agreement.
The parents and, where appropriate, the pupils are invited to sign and return the declaration, when a child starts at the school, indicating their intention to fulfil their part of the agreement.
Charging Policy
There are no compulsory charges for the usual curricular activities at the school.
For some activities, such as school trips, the school occasionally has to ask for voluntary financial contributions in order for the activity to take place. In such circumstances, parents receiving income support or family credit will not be expected to make a contribution for the activity. No child will be excluded from an activity because the parents have not made a voluntary contribution. However, the school may have to cancel planned events if there is insufficient financial support
Some of the music tuition which takes place at the school is paid for by the parents direct to the tutor.
Annual Contribution
An annual voluntary donation of £10 is requested to help meet the costs of extra activities such as cooking, needlework, swimming pool maintenance, visiting speakers or theatrical groups and Christmas parties. There is no obligation to make such donations and no child will be omitted from any such activity, but without substantial parental support such activities could not continue.
School Dress
We are proud of our school uniform.
We hope your child will wear the school colours of green, yellow and grey. Many children wear the school sweatshirt with grey skirts or grey trousers. In summer green/white dresses are also worn.

All clothing should be clearly marked with your child's name. Items of clothing are frequently handed in as 'lost property' and their owners never traced because the clothing has not been marked. The school cannot be held responsible for any lost property.
Clothing and Personal Possessions
An apron or old shirt is recommended for use in art and craft to help protect school clothing.
Nearly new items of school uniform and football boots may be available from school.
Earrings and other items of jewellery can be dangerous and are not appropriate to be worn in school.
For the children's own safety, any pupil wearing earrings or other items of jewellery to school will be asked to give them to their class teacher for safe keeping until the end of the school day. The easier option is obviously for children to refrain from wearing any jewellery until they are at home.
Valuable jewellery and other property should never brought to school as no facilities exist for their safekeeping.
No responsibility for items brought to school can be accepted by the school Governors, the Head Teacher or Staff
Varnished nails, coloured hair and other forms of make-up are, of course, totally inappropriate for pupils attending Primary School.
Children are not encouraged to bring valuables to school and the school cannot take responsibility for loss or damage to such articles. Pupils may wear watches. No jewellery including earrings may be worn during any PE activities.
Damage or loss of personal property should be covered under your own house contents insurance. Parents may wish to cover their children for personal accident. The KCC policy provides cover only where negligence on the part of an employee or defect in the premises can be proven.
